The church of the hair of the dog

The congregation assembles
At the same time every week
We put our money in the jar
And give at least ten percent for fellowship
Sister bartender knows my name
She knows my drink as well
Father calls me “darlin’”
Mother makes us food
Families come around together
Some even bring their dogs
We tell each other the truth
And hold each other accountable
Ceremonies are held
Lovers are wed
God is discussed
Confessions are made through amplifiers
We sing and dance and hug and cry
We counsel each other under neon lights
Despite all we don’t believe in
We all believe in this
